Is Tito Ortiz looking past Forrest Griffin for a possible third crack at ‘The Iceman’?

Quoteworthy:

“I know I’ve lost two matches. I still think I can beat him, and I still think that’s a big fight. I still want that fight. That would be awesome. I think if I call him out enough times I think he’ll be a man and step up. Why wouldn’t he? That’s a huge fight and a big payday for him. It will be good. I think we can see one more. Why not? I’m down. I’m always game. You know me, I’m not afraid to fight anyone, even though there was a picture that was painted a long time ago that wasn’t true. I’ve fought him twice already. I’m not afraid. He already proved he’s not my friend, so the hell with it. I’ve got nothing to lose. Lets make some money, and this time I’m going to kick his ass.”

One time UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is still hoping to one day avenge his two losses to fellow former headliner Chuck Liddell. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is coming off major spinal fusion surgery to correct a back problem that plagued him in his most recent bouts. His last appearance was in May 2008 — a unanimous decision loss to now 205-pound champion, Lyoto Machida. Does a UFC 106 win over Forrest Griffin propel him back into the title hunt? Or would any fans out there rather see him tangle with “The Iceman” for a third time instead?

Chuck Liddell considering a return to the Octagon — even if it means fighting Kimbo Slice to do it

“I still love fighting. I don’t know what we’re going to come up with. I’m going to start spending a lot of time training guys or get back in there –- one of the two. I needed some time off. “Dancing” actually gave me something to concentrate on and get in shape on. I just want to get back in shape and stay in shape and start training with people and see what I want to do. [And] why would anyone even want to see me fight Kimbo? I have no interest in that fight. Whatever. It is what it is. I guess I’d do it, if that’s who I had to fight to come back.”

Former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell mulls a potential return to the cage that made him famous after getting booted from Dancing with the Stars on ABC. “The Iceman” is coming off a technical knockout loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 97 back in April, marking his fourth loss in his last five fights. Company president Dana White has pressed his good friend and big time money-making machine to hang up the gloves, saying he has made a ton of cash and has nothing left to prove. Liddell — who will be 40 years old by the time April 2010 rolls around — clearly needs more time make up his mind — but would apparently do whatever it takes to get back inside the cage. Even if that means fulfilling a rumor gone wild about hooking them up with the grappling deprived Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.

Chuck Liddell voted off ‘Dancing with the Stars’ 2009 after just four episodes

Former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell tonight met his match on the dance floor, getting voted off “Dancing with the Stars” after just four episodes on the ABC network.

“Iceman” and his professional dance partner, Anna Trebunskaya, got knocked out of the 16-person “celebrity” dance tournament after turning in a lackluster “two-step” on Monday night. This evening the judges delivered the bad news after it came down to the UFC Hall of Famer and singer Aaron Carter.

He was visibly upset with the result, but shook off defeat in typical — and concise — Liddell fashion.

His post-dance speech:

“I had fun. We had a good time. We made a run at it, but it’s difficult. It’s hard to do.”

What’s his next step? It’s unclear at this time.

However, his popularity among soccer moms and geriatrics is more than likely at an all-time high. Whether or not the promotion intends to capitalize on this new-found demographic with a return to the Octagon in the near future remains to be seen.

Let’s just hope he stays off the reality television circuit … unless it includes another run as coach on “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite another familiar legend of the sport, Randy Couture.

Either way, job well done.

Dancing with the Stars 2009: Chuck Liddell set for Episode 4 tonight (Oct. 12)

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Keep on Chuckin’…

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and his professional dance partner, Anna Trebunskaya, will once again boogie their way into our living rooms on this season of “Dancing with the Stars” tonight (Oct. 12) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

He and his Russian counterpart survived week three courtesy of his Xyience -powered samba. He also had a little help from fellow contestant Tom DeLay, who clomped around the stage with all the grace and fluidity of a post-sledgehammered James Caan in Misery.

The former House Majority Leader withdrew from the competition with fractured feet and joined “actress” Debi Mazar on the first train out of Dodge — after her spastic rain dance did nothing for the judge’s or the viewers at home.

Regardless, Liddell is on ABC this evening and he needs our help to stay there and survive the 16-person “celebrity” dance-off.

Remember that you can call (800) 868-3402 during the show and up to 30 minutes following its conclusion to vote for the “Iceman.” You can also vote online at the DWTS official Web site right here.

(Note: You can vote up to eight times per phone line.)

In the meantime, go ahead and sound off in the comments section before, during and after the big event. Good, bad or indifferent — we want to hear from you.
